For those of you that know me well, you will know I love having a fitness goal. A goal to get fit, is not enough for me, I need a big hairy audacious goal which ultimately gets me fitter however the end goal is so much more exciting. My previous goals have included walking the Sydney Coastrek 50km event or Sydney Trailwalker 100km event. Well as I’ve walked the coastrek 3 times, Wild Endurance 50km once and Oxfam 100km twice, I’ve been looking for something else. So for months I’ve been thinking about what to do next.
Last weekend I led a walk through the Lane Cove National Park which on one side of the river, travels along the GNW. I met a group of people who were on their 2nd last leg of completing the whole GNW. It had taken them nearly 2 years over several weekends, however; the very next day they would have walked the whole route. So from the simple meeting I was inspired to do it. I now have the map book and motivation to make it happen!
So my plan is to walk a section of the route once a month in 2016. Each section will be about 15-25 kms long. If you are interested in coming along and walking this amazing trail, please let me know.
